“The core of time” is a cycle at University of São Paulo (USP) with two roundtable discussions between four architecture offices: E.G.U., Gru.a, Vão, Vazio S/A. The architects present projects, such as visits to their studios, from the inside, so that we can talk about their processes. The first meeting, entitled ‘The Core of Time _ Short Season,’ features projects that interfere with the landscape for a specific period of time, thus existing within the scope of a certain experience. The second meeting, entitled ‘The core of time _ long duration,’ is dedicated to projects that span long periods of time, that is, that are conceived in a certain context but are also intended to exist in other eras, inevitably crossed by other times/experiences.

The title of the series comes from poet João Cabral de Melo Neto’s poem, ‘Habitar o tempo’ (Inhabiting time). The series is part of research developed by architect Marta Bogéa with support from CNPq/PQ Process: 305509/2022-5.
